Day 28: About the Self

So often, we forget about ourselves. From giving of ourselves entirely at work, responsibilities to our family, trying to have friendships, attempting to foster relationships, doing the shopping, having hobbies, going to the gym, paying the bills, going out, trying to stay in, it feels like there’s only a sliver of us left over and it’s a foreign experience to take time for ourselves. Add in the constant feeling of being run-down, aching, visits to the doctor, being strong when we are weak, taking meds that debilitate us as much as our disorder and fearing one of the most natural processes of the female body (our moon) … well, that doesn’t leave a lot for love of self, care of self, or much left of ourself.

So it was nice to wake up with a cup of Yogi Tea brand Women’s Moon Cycle Tea — my last of the pack — and see the lovely message on the tag. At first I laughed at it. Then tore it off and used two fitting words from my Magnetic Poetry kit to put it on the front and center of my fridge:

Self worship reminder

… For we are nothing if we are not strong within ourselves. And even when we don’t think we’re that great, at least we are complete of ourselves.

Another nice gift from the universe.
